Catch up with the daily NRA-ILA Alert! view the web version of this email DAILY ALERT FOR Wednesday, May 12, 2021   NEWS NRA-Backed Open Carry Bill Passes South Carolina General Assembly Called the most significant firearm bill to pass in South Carolina is more than 20 years, the General Assembly as sent HB 3094, an Open Carry bill, to the Governor for signature.    LEGAL & LEGISLATION South Carolina: General Assembly Sends Open Carry Bill to Governor Today, the House voted 83-34 to concur with the Senate on House Bill 3094, the open carry and free CWP bill. It will now go to Governor Henry McMaster for his signature. This is a big advancement for Second Amendment rights benefitting law-abiding citizens.   LEGAL & LEGISLATION Nevada: Senate Judiciary Committee Holding Vote for Gun Ban Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a work session for Assembly Bill 286, where it will have a vote. They heard AB 286 just yesterday and added the bill to today's agenda this morning. Despite opponents bringing up many issues with the bill, they are pressing forward with a vote.   THE DAILY SIGNAL In These 11 Cases, a Firearm Saved the Owner or Others Late last month, President Joe Biden used his first address to a joint session of Congress to push for major gun control initiatives, often using blatant lies and mischaracterizations in the process. One of Biden's more egregious mischaracterizations was the common trope that the nation is experiencing a "gun violence epidemic." The plain data simply does not support such a claim. The rates for gun homicides and nonfatal gun crimes remain far lower today than in the early 1990s.   LEGAL & LEGISLATION Colorado: Anti-Preemption Legislation Passes Senate Committee on a Party-Line Vote Yesterday, the Senate State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee passed anti-gun legislation, Senate Bill 256, on a party-line vote.
