PART 1 - 2021 Legislative Session Wrap-Up - 3 Pro-gun Bills Pass HB-259, The Church Carry bill passed both the House and Senate and has now been signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis.  It took effect immediately.  This bill authorizes persons who have concealed weapons or firearms licenses to carry firearms on property of churches, synagogues, or any other religious institutions, unless specifically prohibited to do so by the church, synagogue, religious institution or other property owner.   NEWS  OK, Terry, You're Crazy One of the more common tactics of anti-gun extremists is to make some dramatic statement comparing our nation's gun laws with some other aspect of everyday life. Every time—not usually or often, but every time—the comparison is wildly inaccurate. One of the more outrageous claims was made in 2016 by then-president Barack Obama (D), who claimed, "We flood communities with so many guns that it is easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than get his hands on a computer or even a book."   NEWS  Local Government, Media, and Gun Control Lobby Collaborate Against Freedom in San Jose By now, many careful observers of Second Amendment issues are aware of the supposedly "groundbreaking" gun control laws the media is celebrating as having been "enacted" in San Jose, CA.   NEWS  Unwilling or Unable to Control Violent Criminals, Cuomo Targets Gun Owners and the Gun Industry Hall of Fame college basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian once remarked, "The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky they're going to give Cleveland State another year of probation." Tarkanian's contention was that college basketball's governing body was unable or unwilling to police certain powerful institutions, but would attempt to assert their legitimacy by punishing comparatively irrelevant actors. It's easy to see a parallel between the New York government's treatment of actual violent criminals versus law-abiding gun owners and the gun industry.
