The state of America’s military

Dear Fellow Conservative,

Believe it or not, some of America's elected leaders are calling to reduce our nation's defense spending. They would rather prioritize issues like climate change over the strength of America's military.

Not only is this sort of thinking sorely misguided, but it's dangerous.

As I write this email, America's biggest adversaries are working to surpass our military capabilities.

Countries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are causing critical problems around the world. And right now, our country's military equipment—including planes, tanks, and ships—is decades-old and years past its useful service.

I'm certainly not happy about this, Fellow Conservative. And I'm guessing you feel the same way.

The United States must have the ability to protect itself. And here at The Heritage Foundation, we have long recognized that one of the few obligations the Constitution places on the federal government is to provide for the common defense.

That's why I wanted to email you today.

Each year, we publish our annual Index of U.S. Military Strength to help decision-makers in government see where our strengths, challenges, and opportunities for improvement lie.

But we also make this important resource available to you, so that you are aware just how well—or how poorly—the government is handling this sacred task.

And today, I want to make sure you receive your free copy of the 2022 Index of U.S. Military Strength.

Inside this in-depth book, you'll explore topics like:

  • Understanding risk in the great competition with China.
  • What we risk if we fail to fully modernize the U.S. nuclear deterrent.
  • How prioritizing climate change could weaken America's military.

You can get your free copy of this guide right now using this secure link: https://secured.heritage.org/thf-us-military-strength-index-ebook.

I think you'll get a lot out of this book. There is plenty of information in here that will raise your eyebrows about where we currently stand and what awaits us in the future if we're not prepared.

So, please use this link to get instant access to your 2022 Index of U.S. Military Strength.

And feel free to share it with whoever you think would benefit from this information.

Best,

Andrew P. McIndoe
VP, Development

Senators now have two days to read and digest it before a Wednesday vote. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), the lead GOP negotiator, said the bill contains all the most vital reforms Republicans have demanded and called it a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to close our open border." "The bill provides funding to build the wall, increase technology at the border, and add more detention beds, more agents, and more deportation flights. The border security bil
