We’re on the verge of a historic win

Fellow Conservative,

Within a few weeks, you and I could see the greatest pro-life victory in a generation. That's the hope we now have after seeing the draft Supreme Court decision that leaked on Monday.

Regardless of what the final SCOTUS decision looks like, we know two things. One, we'll need to stay active in the states to pass pro-life legislation. And two, we'll need to stay active in our communities to support mothers and promote choosing life.

Friend, you can do a lot to accomplish that goal of creating a culture of life.

Often, we can serve the pro-life cause by doing something simple. For example, my colleagues and I took a few hours this week to host a baby shower for the new moms on our team.

Imagine how much a baby shower could mean to a mom who isn't sure about keeping her baby. That celebration could show her that she has a support network of loving friends who will help her through it. We should think about how to do that for people near us.

Other times, serving the pro-life cause might cause some difficult conversations. The Left can be vicious in how they twist the truth and attack pro-lifers. This Heritage podcast from the series that we call Problematic Women helped me remember what to focus on when those tough conversations happen.

Their guest, Megan Almon, from the Life Training Institute does a good job of explaining how to steer conversations toward the scientific and moral facts.

Let's fervently pray for the end of Roe v. Wade in the next few weeks. If that does indeed happen, what pro-life efforts do you think Heritage should prioritize? What will be the next most pressing areas for action?

I hope you have a great weekend and can wish the moms in your life a Happy Mother's Day!

Best,
Andrew

Superbowl anti-gun ad, hope it backfires on them

PAT DOLLARD YOUNG AMERICANS 11 Hours Ago Bloomberg to Air Gun Control Ad During Superbowl Feb 2, 2013Toro520 Via The Associated Press: NEW YORK (Associated Press) – A gun control group founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is airing a Super Bowl advertisement calling for background checks. The 30-second spot by Mayors Against Illegal Guns will air in the Washington area during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The ad calls on lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. It is narrated by children, with “America the Beautiful” playing in the background. It includes decades-old footage of National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre saying the gun lobby group approves of the checks. LaPierre recently testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the NRA no longer supports background checks for all gun sales. A Bloomsberg spokesman would say only that the ad cost in the six-figure range....
