Today let's celebrate the fact that the explicit embrace of anarcho-tyranny doesn't play well with voters outside a few cossetted neighborhoods, the criminal underclass, and foreign invaders. (H/T Revolver News) The Washington Reporter found such reactions widespread, even among Washingtonians whose anti-Trump politics meant they praised his new initiative through gritted liberal teeth: One female Hill staffer, who pays $3,000 a month for rent in Navy Yard, told the Reporter that she “saw someone get arrested the other day in my lobby at like 5:30pm. Someone also got shot in March and the blood puddle was left overnight and everyone saw it in the main lobby,” she said. For the first time in years, Trump’s announcement has many in the city feeling hopeful; one GOP veteran told the Reporter that he felt safe walking around his neighborhood — where he and his wife were nearly shot in broad daylight — for the first time in three years. “I haven’t walked that way before tonight when I saw the police out in full force,” he said. One D.C. denizen who has worked downtown for 30 years has seen the city’s crime ebb and flow — but he said that “it was very bad when I first got here but it's even worse now.” “You couldn't pay me to go to Union Station any more,” he said. “Anyone who lives or works here knows the reality. Those that deny that reality are doing it only because of their irrational hatred of Trump.” “The most dangerous place to be a woman in America is a Democrat-run city,” a female Hill staffer wrote to the Reporter. “Thank god!!!!!!” she added, describing D.C. as a scene out of Silence of the Lambs. If the Democrats were genuinely concerned, as they pretend to be, that Trump's perfectly constitutional takeover of D.C. law enforcement is a giant step toward tyranny, they'd be out there acknowledging the facts: that Washington, D.C., has been driven to the brink of becoming uninhabitable except for those with embassy guards or private security. Next, those same Democrats would be coming forth with hard-headed, pragmatic plans for reducing violent crime and restoring public order. Then and only then would they raise whatever constitutional objections they had to Trump's more straightforward plan, and explain why it's overreaction in their opinion. Nope, not a peep of such sanity or public-spirited engagement. Instead, as Gateway Pundit reports: Democrats and liberal media outlets have characterized President Trump’s activation of the D.C. National Guard and federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department as “tyranny,” “Nazi,” and other inflammatory terms. Local officials, including Mayor Muriel Bowser and Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, have called the move “unsettling and unprecedented” and “a historic assault on D.C. home rule.” Meanwhile, on the crackpot far Right, reactions are even more deranged. Americans know where the Left is headed. We read reports from countries where the elites are waging open war against the people, such as Great Britain, where native-born citizens now rot in prison for posting about uncontrolled immigration, while immigrants walk free after committing violent crimes. But there are some crimes our ruling classes simply will not tolerate — as Joe Biden's targeting of pro-lifers should remind us. 100,000-Plus Citizens Apply to Help ICE Restore Order and Sovereignty Despite the violent abuse to which mobs of open-borders activists often subject them, ICE officers are seeing a surge of Americans who wish to join their ranks, Fox News reports: More than 100,000 Americans have applied for roles with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since the organization began a recruiting drive at the end of last month, the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News Digital. President Donald Trump's administration launched a drive to hire 10,000 additional ICE agents at the end of July, offering incentives to candidates and removing certain limits on who can apply. The total number of applicants has now eclipsed 100,000 in barely two weeks. The agency had received 80,000 applicants as of August 6. Thank God for courageous Americans. They're stepping into the breach, and their lives won't be easy. Again, from Fox: The recruitment drive comes amid what has been at least an 830% increase in assaults on agents amid riots and protests throughout the country, according to DHS data. [DHS Secretary Kristi] Noem said last week that number has since spiked to 1,000%. Foreign-Born Population Finally Declines Despite immense resistance both in lawless courts and blue-city streets, Trump's effort to rein in immigration chaos is showing concrete results, Just the News notes: The foreign-born population of the United States declined by 2.2 million people since January, according to an analysis from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS). That figure includes an estimated 1.6 million illegal aliens. The CIS based its report on Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data and suggested that much of the exodus stemmed from self-deportations driven by the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.
